  • I’m thrilled to share my first article for @sfclassicalvoice. This piece started with a question about opera pre-performance rituals and an Impossible burger that led me into a fascinating rabbit hole of answering a larger question of how dietary changes impact vocal performance. Big thanks to the vocalists profiled in the piece, @lucasmeachem and Andrew Truett. Google SF Classical Voice Tale of Two Singers to read the article. .

  • Happy Thanksgiving!
  • I’m gearing up for go time tomorrow, prepping and chopping and focusing on the most important parts of the table (side dishes for the win!) so I hope you don’t mind if I share a few last ideas for you to consider if you’re still on the fence. Just for today and tomorrow, I’m going to let my Thanksgiving table invade my feed, then poof, it will all disappear. So, get it while it’s hot! But first, let’s start with pie, shall we?
🍂
The hands down best pumpkin pie I’ve ever eaten is the one from @artofthepie cookbook by @katemcdermott. She convinced me a few years back that maybe I could like pumpkin pie because of a special ingredient she adds to her filling that lightens it up and makes all the difference. Google foodpoet pumpkin pie for the recipe if you’d like. Stay tuned for a pie recipe remix

  • Here’s a pro tip for Thursday from the team at @spinasseseattle. Set one more place at the table. Slice and roast Kuri squash. Scatter on cubes of pancetta (or omit and fry up some sage leaves and breadcrumbs til toasty). Go wild with grated Parmesan and a thunderclap of toasted chopped walnuts, a zap of black pepper. Then, invite someone extra to the feast—squash like that makes friends. And can you really have too many squash dishes at Thanksgiving?
